8Days/7Nights - Sweetwater's - Samburu - Lake Nakuru

Day
01: NAIROBI - SWEETWATERS
On arrival you will be met by our representative (by morning flight) and
commence your safari to the foothills of Mt. Kenya. You will arrive at
Nanyuki Town that is situated at Equator for lunch. Soon after lunch you
will depart for Sweetwaters Ranch for an afternoon game drive. The reserve
area is 24,000 acres which is a private ranch. Among many advantages of
visiting this private are, guest can enjoy special activities not permitted
in other Kenyan National Parks and Reserves like escorted game walks,
night game drives, horse riding etc. In reserve you have an opportunity
to see herd of elephants, cheetah, lion, jackal, buffalo, eland oryx and
don't forget to visit chimps and rhino sanctuary.
You will return to your hotel in Nanyuki Town for dinner and overnight
(LD).
Day 02: SWEETWATERS - SAMBURU
After breakfast, drive further north to Samburu Game Reserve to you campsite
located at the banks of the life-giving Uaso Nyiro River.
On arrival you will checkin at SENTRIM SAMBURU
TENTED CAMP.
Located on the shores of Ewaso Nyiro River is a new Luxury Camp, the Sentrim
Samburu Camp. With 20 tents all facing the river, 5 tents have Jacuzi
which are placed outside the tent giving you a wonderful scene. Openned
in November, Samburu Sentrim is a place to be the next time you get to
Samburu National ReserveAfternoon game viewing in the reserve filled with
the scenic beauty. The reserve is renowned for its unique species of animals
that includes Somali Ostrich, Reticulated Giraffe, Beisa Oryx, Generuk
and the Grevys Zebra among others. Later return to SENTRIM
SAMBURU TENTED
CAMP for dinner and overnight (BLD).
Day
03: SAMBURU
Before dawn your driver guide will be ready for the early morning search
of hunting cats. Later you will return to camp for breakfast and relax
at camp before your next game drive late afternoon. All meals & overnight
at SENTRIM SAMBURU
TENTED CAMP (BLD).
Day
04: SAMBURU - LAKE NAKURU
After an early breakfast bid farewell to Samburu as we drive south through
Isiolo, crossing the northernmost foothills of Mount Kenya, until we reach
Nanyuki town. Heading west we make a brief stopover at Nyahururu Falls,
still known to many as Thomson's falls for its 237ft cascade. After the
stopover, we drive southward to our next destination Lake Nakuru. Located
in the Great Rift Valley 1750 meters above sea level, Lake Nakuru is known
as an ornithological paradise by birdwatchers because the lake is world
famous as the location of the greatest bird spectacle on earth which boasts
any where between one and two million lesser and greater pink flamingos
that feed on the abundant algae thriving in the lakes warm waters. It
is one of the few parks that have been specifically established (Gazetted)
for the protection of birds specifically flamingoes, more than 450 species
of birds have been recorded here. The park has also been established for
the protection of endangered species such as the rhino and is also home
to Columbus monkeys, Leopards, Giraffes, and a variety of plain antelope.
You will check-in at FLAMINGO HILL TENTED CAMP
for lunch. Flamingo Hill Tented Camp is small and exclusive, comprising
25 tents. The tents are furnished with the understated luxury required
by the modern traveler. Decorated in calming safari tones, natural woods,
wrought iron and crisp cottons each tent has been meticulously planned
to maximise comfort. All tents have good facilities,four poster beds &
mosquito nets, en-suite with shower, en-suite with shower, WC and flush
toilets and a private verandah overlooking the plains etc. Later you depart
for an afternoon game drive around the lakeshore with be the feature for
the afternoon, dinner & overnight at FLAMINGO
HILL TENTED CAMP (BLD).
Day
05: LAKE NAKURU - MASAI MARA
Today our safari will take us to the jewel of Kenyas parks, the
world famous Masai Mara Game (Wildlife) Reserve. This is Kenyas
number one park and is always on every tourists Must see list.
Full of life with various types of animals and birds, Masai Mara crowns
the climax of every safari in Kenya. Its rolling grasslands and acacia
savannah have time and again been captured on film with the movie Out
Of Africa being the most famous. Masai Mara is home to the Big
Five (Elephant, Buffalo, Lion, Leopard and Rhino) and over 450 bird
species. Apart from the big five, the Masai Mara is most famous for the
spectacular annual migration of over a million wildebeest, zebra, gazelle
etc from the Serengeti in northern Tanzania crossing the Mara River into
Kenya in search of fresh feeding grounds, which takes place in late July
or August. During this crossing, hundreds of animals are swept away by
the first moving Mara River and others are killed by the ferocious African
Crocodiles. This crossing gives true meaning to the phrase Survival
of the fittest.
Your accommodation
for the next two nights will be at MARA SIDAI
TENTED CAMP. Mara Sidai Tented
is an excellent budget permanent camp. Mara sidai camp has permanent self
contained tents with four poster twin beds, all the tents have private
flash toilets and hot/cold showers. Lighting is provided by our diesel
run generator which runs from 6.30 in the evening up to 11.00 oclock.
Solar lumps are provided incase of generator failure guaranteeing continuity
in lighting.sockets are provided in all tents for charging of digital
cameras and mobile phones. In the afternoon head out with your driver
guide in search of the shy and elusive leopard, other wild animals and
over 450 species of birds of which 57 species are birds of prey. As the
sunset starts to edge dip into the African horizon it will be the perfect
opportunity for you to capture the beautiful Mara landscape on film. After
dinner, enjoy the warmth of the roaring log fire before going to bed under
the star filled African sky. Dinner and overnight at MARA
SIDAI TENTED CAMP (BLD).
Day
06: MASAI MARA
We start the day off with an early morning game drive before dawn, followed
by breakfast upon your return to the camp. After breakfast you can go
swimming in the pool under the African sun or just sit back and relax
for the rest of the day. In the afternoon we return to the bush in search
of wildlife, such as Thomsons and Grants Gazelle, elephants,
lions, and the solitary and ill-tempered Rhino, among others. All meals
and overnight at MARA SIDAI TENTED CAMP (BLD).
Day
07: MASAI MARA - NAIROBI
Soon after breakfast, with game drive en route drive back to Nairobi with
lunch en-route arriving mid -afternoon. Overnight at SIXTY
EIGHTY HOTEL where you are booked on bed and breakfast basis.
Day
08: NAIROBI
After breakfast you will be transferred to the airport for scheduled International
departure flight.
